The Glen House
All the best places to eat, shop and stay in Ireland. A local guide to local places.
Sonia McGonigle’s The Glen House, in little Clonmany, way up north amidst the stunning beauty of the windswept Malin headland, is a beautiful house in a beautiful place. If that was all The Glen offered, that would be more than enough to keep the most critical traveller happy. But, along with the beauty, you also get the benefit of the amazing personality and people skills of Mrs McGonigle, and this lady is one of the very best hosts. Assisted by a helpful team, there are lovely rooms, and a spick and span tea room you can relax in after a visit to the Glenevin Waterfall next door, as well as a craft shop and ice cream parlour, offering Inisowen crafts and beautiful ice creams from Mullins of 'Derry. Mrs McGonigle is one of the most meticulous B&B keepers, with an obsessive attention to detail, and The Glen House is a house that pushes all the buttons. We can’t think of anything nicer than a few days here, spent walking on the beaches and on through the Urris Hills and the Mamore Gap, with the promise of the return to The Glen House to end a perfect day.
