KAI Cafe Restaurant
Jess Murphy is that rare chef who unites ordinary decent food lovers, and food critics. Both are in awe of her ability to max the flavours out of any ingredient she chooses, and both are in love with the powerful energy that her food expresses, an energy that means Kai, at any time of day or night, is a riot of raucousness. Her food is simple, funky, unpretentious and different – much like the room, in fact – so you might have a Sea Road fishfinger for your lunch, served with wild garlic ranch dressing, and then have monkfish with sea spaghetti and cockles in a broth, or Roscommon hogget with harissa for dinner, before finishing with a Game of Cones sundae. In Kai, eating = fun. David Murphy presides over the manic Galway exuberance with calm confidence.
