The L Mulligan team are clearly blessed with perfect prophetic vision. They were already into craft beer when they opened in 2011, and today we’re all into craft beers. They were into gin and whiskey, and now we’re all into gin and whiskey. They were into irony, upcycling, using the pub as a shop, brewing collaborations and monthly quizzes, things that are now, of course, the staples of our lives. Above all, they were deep into making tasty, unpretentious grub, and now we all swear by black pudding Scotch eggs, lamb burgers, Chicken Kiev, vegetarian haggis, and chocolate and mint shortbread. Everything they hoped would happen when they opened has come to pass, which makes L Mulligan the Nostradamus of Dublin restaurants, as well as the proverbial heartbeat of hip Stoneybatter.
