There’s something about Lancaster Lodge that comforts and cheers the guest. We reckon that it’s comforting and cheering because the design of every detail of the hotel is so assured. There is a pared-back quality to the rooms and the public spaces – an ascetic aesthetic, if you like – that we really admire: they understand that less is more when it comes to design and interiors, so the feng shui of Lancaster Lodge is just spot on.
It’s interesting, also, that the design means that Lancaster Lodge doesn’t feel like a standard hotel – the “boutique hotel” moniker they use to describe themselves really does apply here, especially if you get one of the superior rooms, which are very much worth the extra money. It applies because the place is so individualistic, not because it’s simply luxe or self-conscious. Form follows function in every element of the hotel, from check in, to breakfast to check out and, because that form is so apposite and so assured, it means the guests are really chilled out: this is a very, very relaxing place to stay, and it’s location close to the very centre of Cork is simply ace. The other distinguishing fact about LL is that it offers great value for money.
