The Little Green Grocer
Sarah and Eleanor's shop exudes that sublime Kilkenny aesthetic. Precise, pretty, and pretty indispensable, this is the sort of destination that enriches a main street, enriches a city, enriches a county, and enriches the lives of the lucky folk who discover it.
And the owner's aesthetic is sprinkled on everything that The Little Green Grocer does: the style and decor of the shop; their magnificently creative sandwiches, the array of good things that call out to you from every inch of the shelves, the gorgeous flowers that bewitch you with their insouciant colour. Just walking into TLGG is a tonic for the spirits, so it's no surprise that The Irish Times described the shop as “a paean to pure living.” So, if you seek that pure living, do make a beeline to Parliament Street for their daily sandwiches in particular, as these are both feasts and treats – Coolatin cheddar with organic avocado salsa, sprouted almond pesto and organic leaves on spelt baguette; Danette's buttermilk tortilla wrap with ricotta, roasted pumpkin, toasted pecans and organic greens with maple vinaigrette; organic kale with ginger and garlic tofu and lemon tahini. Pure living never tasted so good.
