Sticky Bun

Archive - all the best places to eat, shop and stay in Ireland. A local guide to local places.

The name says it all: who doesn’t love a sticky bun?! Of course, we all love a sticky bun, which is why everyone loves Kay Burke’s Sticky Bun, one of the food destinations that define the super-cute town of Clonakilty. Ms Burke makes certain to get all the details right: the team offer polite and helpful service; they use superlative local ingredients from nearby artisans; they craft excellent coffee; they make you happy with enriching savoury cooking –  organic porridge for the Gods to start the day; the excellent pancakes; a creamy chowder with sourdough for lunchtime, or maybe the superb spiced beef sandwich. And then, of course, the sticky buns: a ginger cookie; the twix bar; the chocolate biscuit pudding; the berry cheesecake. Sticky Bun is an oasis of good things, a true West Cork charmer.
